Just 4 more days and the last two years of yapping, name calling, finger pointing, hating - well you have to know what I am talking about - it is ALL that the media has covered! I wonder what my Facebook friends and family will talk about after Tuesday! This election has voided our minds for anything other than this election.
And it hasn't just occupied our minds, but also our time - time that could very well be spent on something so much more inspirational, motivational, educational. Well it is almost over and I can get back to whatever it was occupying my time two years ago.
One of these candidates will be our next president and my only wish is that the next president love America as much as I do; the next president want to promote growth for America; the next president honor the Constitution and the freedoms provided therein for America; the next president acknowledge the loss of life and the service of the many men and women in the protection of America and its people; the next president believe that all people are created equal and the laws of the land apply to all America and its people consistently; the next president serve America with pride and represent our America with honor and without apology as the greatest nation on earth; the next president acknowledge that our America is a Christian nation, always has been, always will be and protects without fear against those wishing to annihilate Christians worldwide.
I am ready for this election cycle to be over, so I will know how I need to prepare for the future as I know that big changes are in store for my America!

Think before you vote!
There are so many issues facing the citizens of this great country. How long will we be able to call the USA "this great country"? The economy has not recovered, ethics is at an all time low, morals have decayed dramatically, and on and on. Will there be no end to the struggle for power and control over this vastly populated continent - yes continent.
This is the big election year. There is mud slinging going on from the most insignificant positions up for re-election to the top position of "this great country" and the closer we get to November the worse it will get.
In the last four years has government and its citizens progressed or suffered from the decisions made by our leaders.
Think before you vote!

Election year is fast approaching. Research your favored candidate now! After officials are in office it is too late. Know who you are voting for when you pull that lever or press that button!

Elections are right around the corner and I am so glad that these ads will soon be gone. The media rules in America either through their reportiing or the ads that are allowed to run on these stations.
It is an important time for our nation and I hope that people go to their knees in prayer before going to the polls to vote. With the enclosed voting booths and the confidentiality assumed in the voting process, no one will ever know how someone votes - which is a good thing. I could stand in front of you and claim support for first one candidate and then another only to enter the polling place and actually vote completely different.
It has been said that a man is only as good as his word, and at one time that was true. There was also a time when a person knew everyone in his neighborhood, their families and most of their friends. Times have changed, morals have changed, ethics have changed. People say one thing and do another. People no longer know each other, they know about each other. It is a hard job to know where candidate stands on the issues at hand and how they will react when those issues are up for a vote.
Our congressmen, representatives, and senators are not among us when the vote counts and peer pressure in the legislature is tremendous. All the money, the favors, the control and the power take over and the people back home are forgotten in the hoopla of the moment. Family, friends, and neighbors are in the past and the power people are in the here and now.
Think carefully when you go to the polls in the next 4 weeks. Pray for our country and where it is headed.

Election Time
I listened to an interview with a political candidate on the news the other night that caused me to stop and watch - I am not a television watcher, but I do keep an ear turned while I read. The candidate was telling the reporter that she didn't know how to run against someone who she knew nothing about.
When did elections become a contest of running against someone? When a person runs for an office, they should be running only against themselves. They should feel they have the qualifications for holding the office and the ability to represent their constituents in the best way possible. Why do candidates feel they have to run against someone?
The media takes the blame for smearing candidates and officials, but in reality the opposing candidates are the investigative reporters. The candidates are the ones who find the dirt, research the records, and audit the accounts of those with the audacity to run against them for public office. Wouldn't it make a difference if these same candidates met with the constituents and discussed the problems they are facing and to actually get their opinions on the issues of today. That is only a dream! That would mean a personal sacrifice on the part of the candidate - the candidate would actually have to do something and meet face to face with the constituents. How ridiculous!
Recently a local candidate came to "ask for" our votes. I was coming out of the garden as he came toward the house. I had met this man many times on previous occasions, but hubby said he wouldn't know him if he met him on the street. I invited him in to meet my mate. His response was he didn't have a lot of time and he had a lot of people to see. Warning signs went up, but he came in met hubby and discussed a few issues. My point is this - if hasn't time now to talk to us and tell us about himself and what he stands for, what will happen when he gets elected. Will he have time to hear our opinion on the issues or our complaints on the service we are receiving?
Candidates, do you have time for a meeting on a campaign ad, but you don't have time to attend a one hour town hall meeting where you can meet face to face with the constituents of your area?
Candidates, do you have obligations that prevent you from speaking at a community committee meeting, but you can play golf with the lobbyist that is funding your campaign?
Candidates, do you listen to your constituents desires on issues or do you support the big business that donates money or gratuities to you and your political party?
Candidates, do you know what the issues are?
This year, vote smart! Know your candidates or at least try to get to know them. We will still make mistakes, candidates will still present themselves in the most positive way possible only to let us down. Remember, the political party comes first and the constituents come second. What does your political part support? What is your political party's stand on the issues? If the candidate is an incumbent, his/her voting record is easily checked as is his/er attendance record.
Yes, vote smart, but more importantly vote!

Just a Thought
I am always a little miffed at people running unopposed. All these gripes and complaints against our elected officials and the threats of voting them out on election day and then no one cares enough to provide themselves or another viable candidate to challenge the position of those receiving the complaints. If one is so unhappy with the jobs these officials are doing then why are they running unopposed? I say to you "you know you didn't mean what you said so 'take it back'." Sounds a little childish doesn't it? Well, that is what all the picking and bickering sounds like through the years. The threats, the name calling, the temper tandrums are al childish is you are not willing to stand behind your words.
It is a challenge to run a county, much less a state or a nation. The citizens expect services that reflect the amount of taxes paid however very few citizens are cognizant of the cost of the services provided. To oversee the operations of any government entity is a challenge and to do so pleasing all the citizens is an impossibility. To verbally attack a person that has offered themselves up for election is a right of the people, but to do so unjustly is slanderous.
Do you keep your promises? How do you vote out someone with no opposition? Citizens are so fickle. They can be vehemently opposed to an elected official one day and so apathetic when it comes to finding a candidate that represents their beliefs and ideals. Does that mean you can't make them happy no matter what? Yes, I think there are people like that.

Now Having Said That . . .
As part of the group of a teen of the sixties,
I value the freedom offered by our government
I value the election process and think immediate and severe action be taken against those who attempt to bypass the established election process
I value the governmental structure established by the Constitution and our Bill of Rights
The check and balance system of our government should apply to any and all actions taken on the part of our government in its representation of its constituents
I believe that our elected government officials should be held accountable to the people that elected them and if they are not the people should expedite impeachment processes quickly and without reserve
I believe that our country is under great stress and has become very susceptible to the promises of political candidates in their search for relief
I believe that our governments from the White House to the county courthouses has become wasteful and irresponsible in their spending of taxpayer dollars
I believe the people of the United States have seen the catastrophic results of letting someone else think for them and now do not know how to rectify the situation
I believe over the next few years, the American people will experience the loss of many more freedoms and rights
I believe the attack of 9/11 should have been a wake up call for the American people and they hit the snooze button and gently went back to sleep
People, stop and think - the United States has intervened consistently and with harsh militay strength in countries that have tread on the rights of the people of that country. Why would we not take a harsh stand when the rights of the American people have been tread on?
