Discontent

I have been married to my husband for 26 years. I am tired of looking at the same man in the same body wearing the same style clothes. He doesn't always smell good. He talks too loud sometime - his hearing is going. I have heard the same stories he has to tell, until I am sick to death of them.

Hey! I am going to find someone exciting. People - Get Over It!

He is the same person that someone else thinks is terrific. He has taken care of me when I was so sick I couldn't move. He has cried with me over let downs and hard times. He has motivated me to get up and get going again.
Yes, we argue. We don't always talk to each other. Sometimes he does his thing and I do mine. We don't share everything and then again we do. He listens to me - I listen to him. Sometimes it is more fun to tell about it than to be there. What we enjoy together is most unforgettable. I sometimes think he knows me better than I know myself.

I cannot fathom a Governor planning to run for President acting in such a cavalier manner, without regard for his family, staff and constituents. This man does not even measure up to his own standards. He didn't try to hide his affair, he just disappeared, knowing he would be found out. He didn't trust anyone enough to have assistance in providing a viable explanation or alibi. He has no shame! He admitted publicly his year long affair and said I am sorry.

What is wrong people? Are there no ethics, morals, self respect left in the people of this world. Get over it! Thank God for what you have! Look around and count your blessings. Before you slip in someone else's backdoor, enter your own front door and see what you find. Look at your life like a stranger would - does it look inviting. Before you give it up, what will you be getting in return?

Look at the one enticing you - what is really behind that beautiful smile, those provocative clothes, the sweet smell? Do they want to be taken care of, shown off, share your glory, lean on you? If your load is too heavy to carry now, how will it feel to have another leaning on you?

Discontent - be happy - take up a new hobby - start a new sport - SAY A PRAYER! - but give more than you get every time. Your spouse may be feeling some discontent too.

Black Box

Reference Flight 447 Air France from Brazil

The focus of recovery of this horrid plane crash has been on the black boxes. What about the 200+ passengers? Are they not more important? The plane crashed, return to the families and friends of these victims the remains of their loved ones.

The black box will tell why the plane crashed, but it doesn't give anyone anything. It has already been determined the tubes had not been replaced as recommended. Do we always have to be definitive in laying the blame?

Innocent Until Proven Guilty or A Mistake Was Made

In reviewing the internet news this morning, I came across an article release by the Associated Press relating that a judge was considering dropping of charges against an accused millionaire Chinese-Mexican in the New England states area that was arrested for importing methamphetamine into the United States (then the article states he was importing pseudophedrine for the making of methamphetamine). The judge cited problems with evidence as the reason for his decision. This "gentleman" also has charges in Mexico and it is supposed he will be extradited after the US charges are settled. There was some $205 million in seized drug profits from his Mexico City home in 2007.

Th AP article went into detail that the prosecutor stated the "overwhelming reason" for dropping the charges was "their relationship with the Mexican government". The judge wants to dismiss the charges due to problems with the evidence. The article further states the mishandling of evidence was similar to another case.

This one will probably walk whether based the evidence issue or the relationship with the Mexican government, either way the accused will be free to peddle his drugs once again and ruin more lives with debilitating drug. In my opinion, meth has been the single biggest factor contributing to the downfall of the American communities. It destroys a person from the inside out. It changes the perception of self and others -destroying families, dreams, morals and ethics.

I am not familiar with the originating arrest or investigation in this case, however I have seen so many with the same scenario. More cases are dismissed or never prosecuted due to mishandling of evidence, initial investigative techniques, inappropriate interview techniques (i.e., advising of the Miranda), and other "technicalities." Law enforcement officers are not attorneys, yet a case is based solely on the manner in which an investigation is started, the accumulation of evidence or retention of same, chain of custody of the evidence, and the manner in which a suspect is interviewed.

When an officer makes a "big bust" they are really pumped up and could care less about the trivial "who, what, when, where and how" of the case. They will lose the case unless the candidate produces a "Yeah, I did it." The technicalities must be taken care of - sometimes first. Only then can the officer celebrate in getting the suspect off the street. The object should be not to get him off the street, but to see he goes to prison and stays off the street for some time. It is so disheartening to know that criminals are walking the streets that should be in prison and the only reason they are not is because some technicality occurred.

This is the type of case where it is imperative the officers/agents work closely with the prosecutor in the investigation all the way through to the prosecution. Local officers sometime think their job is done when the suspect is in the local jail. That is just the beginning.

Officers it is your job to catch the criminals, but if you don't give the prosecutor the ammunition he needs to prosecute, then you need to get out of the business - all you are doing is harassing people. Consult with the prosecutor, ask his advice and take it, keep him/her updated on the case and most of all document your case so that anyone can put the case together in case something happens to you during the investigation or arrest.

And most of all get as much training as you can. Learn as much about the laws and case law as you have time. If cases are dismissed by the prosecutor after you have done your job, it is on his/her head. If this case was dismissed due to "a relationship " there is nothing you can do, but feel bitter and frustrated toward the prosecutor. Don't let this stop you in continuing to work with your prosecutor. You never know who is pulling his strings and if this is an international venture, then you have done your part.

To all law enforcement officer - I salute you. Continue to operate in a manner that brings respect to the badge, not fear of the gun.

Representation

My email box is loaded week after week with letters of concern over how our government is run and our taxes are spent. I have several questions but the most important of all is 1. Do you vote? and 2. Do you write or call your government representatives - local, state, and national and let them know how you feel?

How in the world can your senator, legislator, or local official know you don't agree with his/her decisions, if you don't let them know? There was a time that you would see your government representatives around town, in church, at public meetings; but now the population has grown and these people have a lot more ground to cover.

Did you know that each are reachable by phone or mail and most have email that is provided for the sole purpose of keeping in touch with their constituents? You may not get to talk to the representative or senator personally each time you call, but you can bet if you leave enough messages and fill up their email boxes you will hear from them. The good thing is, you are in control. If they don't call back, write, or email you in return, you don't have to vote for them the next election. We need representatives/senators/local officials who have time to listen. If they are too busy to hear, they are too busy to hold office.

If they are catering to special interest groups and do not have time for their constituents, let them deal with the special interest groups on their own time. These officials are not important to these special interests groups if they are not holding a political office. Holding a public office makes them important. However, special interest groups do not vote in local elections. You do!

Visit you Chamber of Commerce or local government website to find contact information for your Federal, State and local elected officials. Most of these officials have web site for the purpose of keeping in touch with their constituents, relaying information on the workings of the goverment, and provide contact information making it easier to get your opinion and concerns. The telephone directory also contains contact information for these officials.

Spending taxes is always a hot topic. Do you agree that your elected federal officials not pay into Social Security? What is your opinion on Foreign Economic Policy and Domestic Economic Policy? Do you agree with the purchasing policies of the military? We all laugh because the Army pays $500 for a commode, but do you know why? Who can change the policy? Do you think the government should pay a farmer not to plant a crop? Why are taxes so high? Are the requirements for government contracts so strict that only the largest and most affluent have the ability to meet those requirements? Do you expect the best and get the least? Ask your representative where they stand on these and other issues and most of all let them know where you stand on these issues.

I hope my friends keep sending me information so I can forward to our officials, but if you want to make sure the proper message is received, your opinion reaches the right person, and your wishes are known, contact these people yourself. Besides, the more people they hear from, the more seriously an issue, stand, or law will be taken and these officials/representatives will think long and hard when it comes time to vote. All votes in these assemblies are recorded and if your representative continually votes opposite the wishes of his/her constituents, he/she should not be re-elected.

Find your voice, grab your pen, hit your keyboard and make yourself heard. Then - GO VOTE!
