Constitution Day - September 17

Today is Constitution Day. The delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution on this date in 1787.

Preamble

"We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, to promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The founding fathers were masters at composition. They wrote the Constitution in such a concise manner that it can be printed on three pages, is readable, and sets the guidelines for the mission, goals, and operations of this great country. Read the Constitution and then read any one of the many Titles of the Federal Register. Mumbo-jumbo and thousands of pages, unreadable and rambling. Our educated leaders are fooling no one but themselves. The original document still stands tall and proud.
